About The Center for Exceptional Families

How We Support Families

The Center for Exceptional Families is Arkansas’s Parent Training and Information Center. We provide information, training, resources, and individualized support to families of children and young adults with disabilities, from birth through age 26. Our team helps families understand special education, participate in educational decisions, and connect with services and supports that can help their children succeed.

What Is a Parent Training and Information Center?

Parent Training and Information Centers, often called PTIs, help families of children and youth with disabilities understand their rights, participate fully in their children’s education, and work effectively with schools and service providers. TCFEF is Arkansas’s PTI and serves families statewide from birth through age 26.

  • Help families understand special education rights, services, and processes.
  • Provide training, reliable information, practical tools, and individualized support.
  • Partner with families, educators, and community organizations to improve outcomes for children and youth with disabilities.
